Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Third Wheel

Sunday, February 23rd, 2014

Dear Reader,

I have completed reading a book called “The Third Wheel.” The Third Wheel is part of a  series called Diary of a Wimpy Kid.  These books are all written by Jeff Kinney . This book is mainly about a boy named Greg Heffley who wants to ask a girl to the Valentine’s Day dance.

There were many parts in this story that were hilarious. For example when Greg  says “ I wish I had kept a journal a lot earlier on, because whoever ends up writing my biography is gonna have a lot of questions about my life leading to middle school.” What makes me laugh is that he actually thinks that someone is going to write a biography about him. It might happen, but when it does I might see pigs flying in the sky.

One of the parts in the story that I did not like was that all of Rodrick’s (Greg’s older brother’s) old toys and clothes that he did not want, were  passed down to Greg. I understand that it saved money. But usually  the younger one also wants some new things for himself. I would probably bet that Manny (Greg’s younger brother) will get what  Greg was using after he is done with it. That way I pity Manny the most. I am a younger brother too and I know how it feels to be cheated.

I also found that, the author’s style of writing was not very common. He wrote this book in first person. Perhaps he was writing about his life, but with a different name.He probably just made up a name and used him as a character.

Overall I really enjoyed this book  because it made me have a couple of laughs. It also taught me a lesson - never try to impress other people by showing off, because when you do, it usually backfires.  For instance ,when Greg tried to act like a big shot in front of Abigail, it did not work and he made himself look a complete fool.

Yours Sincerely,
